1 May: UK Launch of The Higher Realm, 7.00 p.m. Revolution Bar, St. Peters Square, Fleet Street, L1 4DQ Free Entry. This is the first event in Liverpool Writing on the Wall/WOW Festival 2008 Programme.

9 May: LJMU/Edge Hill Short Fiction Competition Night: As a prelude to the LJMU/Edge Hill Short Story Conference, successful entrants to the Oceans of Stories competition will read their work. Details of how to enter the competition are on the WOW website.

10 May: LJMU/Edge Hill 2008 Short Story Conference - Oceans of Stories; Collections, Sequences and the Short Story

12 May: Edmund Cusick – Between Fields & Stars: Headland Publications and LJMU’s Centre for Writing celebrate the work of the late Edmund Cusick and launch Between Fields and Stars, a selection of his writings.

14 May: Judging a heat of Pulp Idol, part of the 2008 WOW Writing on the Wall Festival

20 May: In The Red Launch - the launch of the 6th edition of the JMU literary magazine with a night of live readings from the magazine’s influential poetry and prose. 7.30 p.m. The Magnet, 45 Hardman Street, L1 9AS

24 May: A celebration of 40 years of Arvon at the Hurst: details to follow
